In the beginning God created man in His own likeness. He endowed him with noble qualities. His mind was well balanced, and all the powers of his being were harmonious. But the Fall and its effects have perverted these gifts. Sin has marred and well-nigh obliterated the image of God in man. It was to restore this that the plan of salvation was devised, and a life of probation was granted to man. To bring him back to the perfection in which he was first created is the great object of life—the object that underlies every other.
At MARILYN MARS MINISTERIES OF RESTORATION, we are aspiring to reconcile people to God, restoring a sense of divine identity, purpose, potential, and destiny; unearthing potential in every individual.
This understanding of restoration and God’s role as the Master Restorer stands out in the the promise of restoration, “I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord” (Jeremiah 30:17), is a repeated theme throughout the Bible, offering hope to us when all else seems to contradict it. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is filled with rich images of healing and restoration—it is a consistent and persistent theme in both the Old and New Testaments.
This theme of restoration provides a foundation for correctly understanding sin and suffering, God’s plan for His creation, and His unstoppable quest to save His people and restore them to His image.
Restoration in the Merriam-Webster dictionary means: the act or process of returning something to its original condition by repairing it, or cleaning it. It is the act of restoring, renewal, revival, or reestablishment or return of something to a former, original, normal, or unimpaired condition.
However, the biblical meaning of the word “restoration” is to receive back more than has been lost, to the point where the final state is greater than the original condition. The main point is that someone or something is improved beyond measure. This is the restoration that we are speaking here about and is striving towards, that all will achieve.
We strongly feel that there is a great need in the world today, than ever before for a spiritual restoration of mankind’s relationship with God (we definitely need His presence), and a moral restoration in society; whereby a divinely positive life will be lived and dignified relationships with others will be restored.
God promises:
”If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
